the GLC’s local area festival being held during Term 3, 2007 for the students, teachers and families of the Gateway Learning Community 

‘Each child will be engaged in a collaborative program of hands-on, multi-literate, community enriched learning experiences involving the local area, integrated into the Term 3 curriculum of every GLC school.’

Wildwords- one village, many stories will feature:

• An Evening Launch at Riverbend Books on 16 July
• A Student Launch at the Morningside Festival Parade on 29 July
• The ‘Big Night Out’ on August 31, a spectacular celebratory evening of activities, performances, displays, music, food and fun held at the ‘GLC Village Green’ at Balmoral SHS
• Local area studies and guided walks
• A program of extension workshops for students with local environmental, historical and cultural content
• Visits by guest speakers/local heroes
• The publishing of a collaborative book of local history anecdotes
• This dedicated Wildwords website including an online ‘virtual’ museum
• Local issue research project/s
• Exhibitions and showcases of student work
• Professional development for teachers
• Father & Son Sleepout
